Standardized patients help train healthcare professionals by enhancing their medical knowledge and skills, with a focus on understanding human aspects. By incorporating acting techniques into their training, standardized patients learn to explore humanity through performance, gain insight into emotions, and better understand both their own and their character’s thoughts and feelings, as well as their roles.

About Workshop

Standardized patient quality improvement project

The operational approach follows the structure of a training program designed to enhance the quality of standardized patients at various levels, including the establishment of standard criteria and the certification of standardized patients at different levels. This is to promote skills development, improve teaching and assessment using standardized patients, ensuring accuracy, standards, and acceptance.

The use of standardized patients serves to stimulate learners' engagement, allowing them to develop skills by interacting with simulated patients in realistic scenarios. This practice ensures no harm or risk to real patients. Students are given the opportunity to repeatedly practice treatment activities until they achieve proficiency and confidence. This integrates theoretical knowledge into practice, allowing learners to gain direct experience from hands-on treatment and fostering real-world learning.

  • Conduct a workshop to enhance the quality of standardized patients, covering three courses:
    1. Basic Acting
    2. Instructor Training (Developing skills to become an instructor)
    3. Assessor Training (Developing skills to become an assessor)
  • Additionally, provide training in specific case instruction and specialized courses for faculty members, physicians, or trainers of standardized patients.
