In this issue, the team has focused on the theme: "High-Quality MCQs for Health Science Education". Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) are among the most widely used forms of assessment, from basic education to health science education, due to their many advantages. However, issues related to poorly constructed MCQs are still prevalent, leading to inaccurate measurements and preventing instructors from distinguishing between students of different levels of competence. Therefore, improving the quality of MCQs is crucial and should be addressed as soon as possible.
This issue of SHEE Journal presents key insights into creating high-quality MCQs, including:
- The rationale for using MCQs in assessments.
- Best practices for designing effective MCQs.
- Methods for analyzing MCQs to ensure their quality.
The content provides valuable guidelines for health science educators on how to develop and analyze MCQs. It includes articles from faculty members and physicians from the Siriraj Health science Education Excellence center, Siriraj Medical School, and external experts. This comprehensive approach aims to assist educators in creating more effective assessments and improving learning outcomes in health science education.
